Opticians insurance news - Sight Care gathering maps out future
This month saw the UK's largest gathering of opticians insurance holders at a Sight Care event for independent opticians at the Hilton hotel in Birmingham.
Sight Care's chief executive announced the creation of a Eye Love My Local Independent Optician campaign, which, alongside aiming to "promote the independent ethos", will seek to educate the public of the value of caring for their eyesight.
It is hoped that the campaign will help benefit the UK's independent opticians, with many struggling to beat off competition from the big high street names, something that has led to some owners struggling to afford basic running costs such as opticians insurance.
"We expect to gain national TV, radio, press and lifestyle magazine coverage of our campaign to draw to the attention of consumers that independent opticians are a fundamental and valuable part of community life," said Sight Care's chief executive.
He also said that, just as small businesses want the ability to be able to choose the opticians insurance that best suits their needs, so do "consumers want choice".
"We also know they want value for money and great service and that's precisely what independents can offer in local communities," he added.
