Opticians insurance news - Adequate cover a must for serious incident

08 January 2010

Opticians insurance holders have been advised alongside other small business owners to look at what plans they have in place to deal with serious incidents such as floods, storms, flu pandemics and terrorist acts.

The British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba) issued this advice after it released details of research it commissioned which shows that nearly 50% of businesses have inadequate plans in place to deal with such events.

And, for opticians, one necessity for dealing with the unexpected is having sufficient opticians insurance in place.

A Biba spokesperson comments, "There have been slight improvements since our previous research in 2006 but we still have concerns that businesses are still not adequately protected.

"Every business needs to be properly prepared for a major incident. I urge every small business to urgently speak to their broker to ensure they are properly covered."

The kind of opticians insurance policy that might help in the case of such incidents include property damage, business interruption, buildings cover and terrorism cover.
